CITRICULTURE DIAGNOSIS OF THE SAVANNA AT HUIMANGUILLO, TABASCO

Abstract

In order to contribute with adequate information for the planning of future research activities of the Colegio de Postgraduados at Huimanguillo, Tabasco, an analytical study of the citriculture in the savanna of Huimanguillo was carried out. The study included technical aspects of production, participation of different institutions, and product marketing. Thus, it may be also useful to the State agricultural authorities, regarding rural development. In the field, the information was obtained by using a quick testing approach, based on personal interviews to farmers and key informers from a local organization named Cítricos de Huimanguillo. For this purpose, a special questionnaire was designed, as well as a registration form to collect the data. Results showed contrasting levels of income, scholarity, crop yield, cultivated area, and marketing access, among farmers.
