Abstract

The present study, carried out in five ranches in the state of Yucatán, México, was performed to compare superovulatory response of cows and heifers treated with PMSG+NEUTRA-PMSG (Treatment 1; n=19) and two types of FSH-P (Treatment 2; n=19). Superovulation started on day 11 of the cycle (estrus = day 0), and the embryos were recovered nonsurgically on day 7 after insemination. Two donors were eliminated from each treatment on the recovery day. Statistical analysis was performed by the t test. There was no significant difference between the two types of FSHP. Means of corpus luteum were similar in either treatment (7.29 ± 3.3 PMSG+NEUTRA-PMSG and 7.58 ± 3.4 FSH; p>0.01). However, the donors that superovulated with FSH-P had higher means of embryos (7.35 ± 7.1 vs. 3.32 ± 3.0; p
