Abstract

In this paper a general regression model with random coefficients is formulated in order to model growth curves. Comments on estimation, hypothesis testing and strategies for data analysis using such a model are included. Modelling of the trend and variability in a sample of 74 growth profiles for an equal number of conifer families, which were studied in controlled conditions, is presented as an illustration.
